It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for Nice Job Badges! After a two-week hiatus, this feature is back and here to stay! It just needed a few tweaks, because I figure if people are going to start putting these on their posts, they need to look suitably sleek. That’s why I’ve
employed bartered with superhero graphic designer Megan @ A Geeky Gal to make a set of Nice Job Badges that look like, well, actual badges! And they are gorgeous. Seriously though, she’s talented — go over there and get her to make you stuff!
As usual, each Friday I’ll pick out five new blog posts posted within the span of that week!
- Five new, distinct designs!
- Out with the colors. Black matches everything.
- I’m no longer issuing a top gold badge. It’s stressful enough picking just five posts.
- I follow a few Blogger blogs. I may start awarding badges to other platforms besides WordPress.
- If someone makes an amazing post one week, then makes another the next, I will feature them two weeks in a row.
- I will not typically feature the same blogger twice on one list, unless I’m really blown away.
- The posts will all loosely be from the current seven day period.
- They are in no particular order because they’re all great.
- Hey, you could totally put the badge on your recognized piece with a pingback to this post!
THE ILLUSION OF TIME | Astrogirl
So, this week I received a few random likes on my posts by a blogger named Astrogirl. Intrigued, I followed and tripped and fell into a rabbit hole… erm, black hole. The posts from this blog are a particularly unique collision of theoretical astrophysics and musings on human nature. And if you’ve seen anything I write, it’s pretty obvious that’s something I’d love.
FAQs: Bread – What Is The Stuff & What Does It Do? | Mr. Wapojif
Featuring the pun of the week: “‘Bready or not, here I crumb!’”
Okay, I’m going to throw out two words for you.
Yeah, of course it just works! In this wonderful post, I learned that bread is, indeed, healthier than an ax to the skull, which I have never considered before. This post is so indescribably weird that I simply must award it a Nice Job badge. If you haven’t figured it out, “indescribably weird” is the way to my heart.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party | Geeky Tourist
So, Geeky Tourist may not post everyday, but when she does, it’s always a treat! Quality over quantity, I always say. This time around we’re traveling to West End, Southampton, U.K. for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! I particularly liked how, in this one, she sandwiched the narrative of the events between some particularly colorful and impressive photography. As an optimist, I often grow tired of people focusing on the darkness of life, so it’s fantastic seeing people like Geeky Tourist doing amazing things!
wonder | Warmth and Light, Bessie.
To stand on hills that are painted in green
And see a world beyond
Sheltered by the branches of native trees.
It’s lovely to sit below the pine
To feel so small and yet so significant.
Introducing another newcomer, aslovelyaspetrichor — say that three times fast! I think this piece could best be described as a love poem to nature, and as such, it can be hard to describe properly. All I know is that, as I was reading through it, I felt terribly moved by my own desire for nature in the face of increasing technological interference.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition Review | ABXY Reviews via The Well-Red Mage
It’s rare when a review convinces me to put a game on my must play list, but ABXY’s review was just the kind I like – detailed, personal, and filled with screenshots for added effect. Guacamelee! has been on the outer edges of my radar for quite some time, but I never thought of it as a game I might like until I read this.
